**SS 316 and 316L Welded Pipes** are molybdenum-containing austenitic stainless steels with 16–18% chromium, 10–14% nickel, and 2–3% molybdenum. The major distinction between the two grades is in the carbon content: 316L has a reduced maximum content of carbon (0.03%), which improves its weld-resistance to intergranular corrosion. Both grades provide a tensile strength of approximately 485 MPa, yield strength of 170 MPa, and elongation of about 35%. The welded construction is well-suited for large-diameter pipe systems, ensuring satisfactory performance and simplicity of fabrication.
