AISI 4140 Tubing is made up of chromium (0.80–1.10%), molybdenum (0.15–0.25%), carbon (0.38–0.43%), manganese (0.75–1.00%), silicon (0.15–0.30%), along with trace amounts of phosphorus and sulfur. This unique blend gives it high tensile strength (655–1080 MPa), yield strength (415 MPa and above), excellent hardenability, and remarkable resistance to fatigue and impact. It also boasts good machinability when annealed and can be heat-treated to reach the desired hardness.
